The annual Tugun Lights Up event kicked off a month-long celebration of Christmas in Tugun with a free film night held at the Tugun Community Centre on Saturday 2 December.
Local families turned out to enjoy the free community event, with face painting, food trucks, kids craft activities and of course, a visit from Santa. Local band The Valley Vibes performed a fantastic set for the crowds before the screening of the much-loved family Christmas movie, Elf.
We were fortunate to have our Federal Member for McPherson, Karen Andrews MP, and Division 14 Councillor Gail O’Neill take time out of their busy schedules to attend the event and spread some welcome Christmas cheer to the community.
Tugun Lights Up is an initiative of Tugun Progress Association (TPA) in conjunction with Connecting Southern Gold Coast and is supported by City of Gold Coast (Division 14), the Blenkins Group, Decorative Lighting Company, Living Temple Christian Church, Ray White Tugun and Tugun Community Bank Branch Bendigo Bank.
Tugun Village businesses will be up in lights until December 31.
Last chance to see Tugun's famous Christmas Lights house
It's the last chance for locals and visitors to see Tugun's famous 7 Coolara St up in lights as the owners, the O'Hara family, have announced it will be their last year entering the city's Christmas Lights competition.
The O'Hara's have decorated their home for the last 17 years bringing much joy to the many who have visited - with an estimated 200,000 lights in total. Be sure to check it out this year before the lights go out!
