Gold Coast International Airport
The Gold Coast International Airport is the fifth largest
International Airport in Australia and the sixth largest Domestic
Airport in the country. Located on the western side of the Gold Coast
Highway at Bilinga, the Gold Coast Airport employs thousands of workers
across the aviation, retail and operational sectors. The Gold Coast
Airport has received several international accolades, including Best
Regional Airport Asia/Pacific and the Staff Service Excellence
Australia/Pacific award at the Skytrax World Airport Awards in
Copenhagen, Denmark and has won the Major Airport of the Year Award at
the Australian Airports Association Awards.
The airport handles more than 5 million passenger movements a
year, with services from major airlines and low-cost carriers including
AirAsia X, Air New Zealand, Jetstar, Qantas, Scoot, Tigerair, Virgin
Australia, and charter operator SeaAir.
The Neumann Group
The Neumann Group is one of the oldest and largest family businesses on
the Southern Gold Coast. They have been established in Currumbin since
1948, when they commenced as a sand mining business. Since then, the
Neumann Group of Companies has diversified to include Neumann Steel –
one of the largest steel suppliers in Queensland – civil construction,
petroleum, quarrying, and dredging. They employ over 800 people
Australia-wide and are a significant local employer on the Southern Gold
Southern Cross University Gold Coast Campus
Southern Cross University Gold Coast Campus is located at Bilinga
adjacent to the Gold Coast Airport precinct. The University’s Foundation
Building was opened in 2010 and a second 10-story building opened in
February 2013. Degrees on offer include arts, nursing, midwifery,
occupational therapy, podiatry and speech pathology, social science and
social welfare, business, secondary and early childhood education,
information technology, law and tourism.
Currumbin RSL is a Services Club located on the banks of the Currumbin
Creek, employing 150 staff across the award-winning facility’s
restaurants, bars, gaming, functions and Veterens services. The Club was
recently crowned Best Club in Queensland, and is involved in many
community activities around the Southern Gold Coast. Every year the
Currumbin RSL holds the Anzac Day Dawn Service at Elephant Rock at
Currumbin – now the largest regional Dawn Service in the country, and
televised on Channel 7’s Sunrise program.
